Advisory: Busy Holiday Weekend around the GWCCA Campus

(ATLANTA ,June 29, 2015) Several citywide events are taking place downtown during the Independence Day weekend, including the Fourth of July Celebration in Centennial Olympic Park, the citywide Peachtree Road Race, and the 2015 International Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous in the Georgia World Congress Center. With the increased number of downtown visitors, attendees are encouraged to take MARTA, or if driving, purchase parking passes online in advance.

The Fourth of July Celebration will take place in Centennial Olympic Park, and gates will open at 6pm. For more information, visit the event page here.

The 2015 International Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous will take place July 1 – July 5, 2015 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Buildings A and B. For more information, visit the convention’s website here.The Peachtree Road Race Expo will take place July 2- 3, 2015, at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The following tips will be helpful for those making their way to these events:

  •  Buy Parking Passes OnlineAttendees are encouraged to buy passes online for the Fourth of July Celebration and the Peachtree Road Race Expo as soon as possible. To purchase parking passes for the Red Deck which is conveniently central to both venues, click on the “Online Parking Permits” icon.

  • Take MARTAAttendees are encouraged to take MARTA to minimize traffic. MARTA offers free daily parking at 23 of its stations. The Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station is located on the Georgia World Congress Center Authority campus, and fare is $2.50 each way. Centennial Olympic Park is also accessible via the Peachtree Center Station. For more information, visit www.itsmarta.com.
