GWCC Hosts 9/11 Day Foundation’s annual National Day of Service & Remembrance

Georgia World Congress Center hosted the 9/11 Day Foundation’s annual National Day of Service and Remembrance community service activity for Atlanta last Saturday. In remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001, the foundation hosted a meal packing event in Building C of GWCC.

The 9/11 Day is a non-profit created as a permanent tribute to the people whose lives were lost and affected on 9/11 and the many brave individuals who rose in service in response to the terrorist attacks. The organization’s mission is to transform the day into a day of unity and encourage people to pay their respects by doing good deeds.

The City of Atlanta, along with ten markets across the country, hosted meal packing events on Sept. 11. Team Authority staff members and their families volunteered alongside many other Atlanta corporations like AT&T, MetLife, Motorola Solutions, Holland & Knight, ironSource, NYSE/ICE, Newell Brands, Piper Sandler, Reliance Steel, Macy’s, KPMG, and more to prepare 185,000 meals for the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

All the meals were donated to and distributed by the Atlanta Community Food Bank to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Truly a collaborative effort between many organizations to enhance the quality of life for Georgians and honoring the lives of those individuals and first responders whose memories we celebrate through our acts of service.
