GWCCA Appoints Director of Government Relations and Director of Communications

ATLANTA – (May 1, 2012) The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA), which is comprised of the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park, recently announced the selection of individuals to fill Government Relations and Communications positions for the Authority.

“Following an extensive search and review of many outstanding candidates, the GWCCA proudly announces the selection of Stephanie Carter as Director of Government Relations and Jennifer LeMaster as Director of Communications,” said Frank Poe, executive director of the GWCCA, who appointed the two individuals.

Stephanie Carter joins the GWCCA after working for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) as Senior Policy Advisor for the past three years where she worked primarily with elected officials on the local, state and national level. In addition to developing the Department’s legislative agenda and policy initiatives, she served as the Department’s liaison at the Georgia General Assembly during the legislative session.

Prior to her work at GDOT, Carter was the Manager of State Affairs for Troutman Sanders Strategies for five years, where she managed the governmental affairs and policy needs of over 20 clients, including several Fortune 500 Companies. Carter is a graduate of Georgia Tech, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) and the University of Georgia, where she received a Masters in Public Administration. She is a native of Watkinsville, Ga.

Carter will be responsible for the overall administration of the GWCCA external affairs, providing primary liaison support with State and other governmental entities regarding the activities of the Authority.

“Stephanie has extensive experience working in governmental relations,” said GWCCA Executive Director Frank Poe, “with her background and outstanding reputation working with state and local officials she will prove to be an excellent asset to the Authority.”

Jennifer LeMaster, who currently works for the GWCCA, joined the Georgia Dome team in 2007 as the Executive Services Manager, where she has administered all aspects of the Executive Suite and Club Seat leasing program and was responsible for all contractual obligations in coordination with the Atlanta Falcons as the premium seating sales broker. LeMaster also oversees all aspects of the Executive Levels, Public Relations and all external communication efforts for the facility.

Previously, LeMaster served as the Director of Marketing and Special Events for the University of Kentucky Athletics Department. In that position, LeMaster created and produced a number of annual high-profile and nationally televised events. Her duties within the Wildcats athletics department included working closely with 22 varsity sports in the areas of marketing, corporate sales and service, communications, public relations, external relations and video production. LeMaster graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Political Science. She is a native of Ashland, Ky.

LeMaster will be responsible for the overall administration of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority public affairs, which will include communication strategies, community relations and issue management support.

“Jennifer has contributed considerably to the external affairs of the Georgia Dome,” said GWCCA Executive Director Frank Poe. “With her knowledge of the Authority and incredible insight of our customers, she will greatly enhance our community outreach efforts.”
