Waste Minimization and Diversion:
Exhibit Hall Move-in and Move-out

  • Utilize item-specific recycling containers placed around exhibit halls and along loading docks to collect corrugated cardboard, plastic film/wrap/visqueen, single-stream recycling, metal/metal scraps, wood scraps and pallets, carpet and padding, and materials for donation
  • Durable goods, supplies, and materials can be donated to local organizations for reuse

Single-Stream Recycling Program

  • Blue recycling containers are located throughout our facility to encourage recycling of plastic bottles and containers, glass bottles, aluminum, clean mixed paper and cardboard

Food & Beverage

  • Kitchen food waste is regularly composted
  • Compostable cups, utensils, napkins and plates are provided for food services
  • Compostable materials and food waste post-meal may be composted if coordinated in advance
  • Excess pre-consumer food will be donated to a local shelter or organization


Reduction of Resources:
Food & Beverage

  • Levy Restaurants may provide reusable dishware, cutlery and linens for meals upon request
  • Many food items, beverages and condiments are served in bulk rather than individually
  • All 106 meeting rooms have a spring water cooler with compostable cups
  • Locally grown and organic food options are available based on seasonality

Paper Products

  • Utilize our digital signage displays rather than printing banners/signage
  • Recycled content paper is used for paper towels, toilet tissue, office paper and collateral


 Air Quality:
Reduced Idling

  • Our campus has engaged the Clean Air Campaign, event managers, delivery and transportation services to limit idling to ten minutes when possible
  • Partnered with the Clean Air Campaign to encourage transportation services to limit idling and dedicated area in front of main entrance as drop-off only to prevent exhaust from entering building

Carbon Dioxide

  • CO2 sensors are installed in each exhibit hall


Energy Consumption

  • Lighting and HVAC in the exhibit halls are minimized during move-in and move-out
  • Light switches in meeting rooms make saving energy easy when not needed or unused


Alternative Transportation:
MARTA (public transit system)

  • GWCC is located at the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center MARTA transit station, one stop west of Five Points station on the Blue/Green rail line. The Blue/Green and Red/Yellow lines intersect  at Five Points.
  • The Red/Yellow rail line runs south directly to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport


  • Located close to downtown hotels, restaurants and attractions easily accessible by foot or bicycle
  • Bicycle racks are located around campus at for secure parking
  • Hosted the 2013 NCAA Men’s Final Four deemed the “greenest Final Four in history
  •  Rise Up and Recycle with the Atlanta Falcons
