SweetWater 420 Fest, set for April 19-21 at Centennial Olympic Park on the Georgia World Congress Center Authority’s downtown Atlanta campus, has revealed more details about this year’s event, including noteworthy entertainment additions and the unveiling of its annual artist/brewery beer collaborations.
Announced today, improvisational group Everyone Orchestra, conducted by musician/activist Matt Butler, will play the festival’s main stage on Saturday (April 20) afternoon, before Moon Taxi and Widespread Panic. Everyone Orchestra features a revolving lineup, but on April 20 will include Anders Osborne, Jon Cleary, Stephen Perkins from Jane’s Addiction, Ryan Stasik of Umphrey’s McGhee, Anders Beck of Greensky Bluegrass fame, James Casey and Natalie Cressman from the Trey Anastasio Band, Mike Dillon (Les Claypool’s Fancy Band) and Fruition’s Mimi Naja.
And speaking of Fruition, the band will play Sunday on the Planet 420 Stage, and is also one of the festival artists that’s pairing up with SweetWater Brewing Co. to create a signature brew. Available at the festival’s SweetWater Experience Tent will be Fruition’s Fire, a Berliner Weiss-styled beer.
Also available at the SweetWater Experience Tent is IPPPPA, a session IPA (India Pale Ale) made with psychedelic funk band Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, which plays the 420 Planet Stage on Sunday (April 21).
In addition, stand-up comedians Andrew Michael and Joe Pettis have joined the Lyrics & Laughter Stage lineup, performing sets daily.
Meanwhile, local and regional musical acts can vie for coveted opening slots on the Planet 420 Stage by competing in the 99X Talent Tap competition, which is accepting submissions through March 6.
