An organization’s commitment to excellence and growth often resonates through its internal dialogue: What defines an unconventional leadership experience? How does a team create an unconventional experience that impacts an event or guest? How can you be an unconventional experience in your professional and personal life? Those topics and more were discussed at Georgia World Congress Center Authority’s (GWCCA) 8th annual TEAM SUMMIT 2024. The event was held in the Thomas Murphy Ballroom at Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) on August 21.
This year’s theme, Unconventional Experiences, was inspired by GWCCA’s brand service promise to consistently create compelling guest experiences. Advancing that vision, team members from all GWCCA departments explored bold ways to push boundaries and deliver elevated experiences that surprise, delight, and ultimately exceed the expectations of everyone who visits GWCCA’s 200-plus-acre campus.
A highlight of the event was a dynamic panel discussion. Best-selling author, Dr. Tim Elmore, spoke about generational diversity in the workplace. Elmore observed that today’s workplaces have more generations working together than ever before. He also highlighted the importance of understanding our strengths to create unique experiences.
Dr. Bryant Marks, a keynote speaker at last year’s event and a leading voice from Morehouse College and the National Training Institute on Race and Equity, addressed implicit bias and highlighted strategies to improve workplace and personal relationships, fostering an environment for both team members and guests at Georgia World Congress Center Authority.
NBC sportscaster and former UGA volleyball star, Maria Taylor, reminisced about playing in the Big South volleyball tournament at Georgia World Congress Center. Taylor discussed overcoming hurdles and how high-level competition informed her unconventional post-athletic professional career.
The day concluded with “GWCC Says,” a Family Feud-style game with prizes and a raffle for team members.
