Tuesday Talk: T. Swift headlines free Final Four fest at Centennial Olympic Park

Tuesday Talk rounds up the latest Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) news you might have missed and also points forward to upcoming events on our campus.

ICYMI (In Case You Missed It): Taylor Swift is returning to the GWCCA campus for the third stint in five years as the NCAA announced late last week that the pop superstar is headlining the Capital One JamFest at Centennial Olympic Park as part of the March Madness Music Festival.

The best part: it’s free.

The Capital One JamFest at the Park is set for April 5 during the weekend of events on the championship campus surrounding the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four hosted at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (MBS) from April 3-6.

The March Madness Music Festival at the Park will kick off with the AT&T Block Party on April 3 and continues April 4. Additional artists for the three-day festival beyond Swift have not been announced yet, but stay tuned to unConventional for updates.

A ten-time Grammy Award winner, Swift first performed on the GWCCA campus at the now-defunct Georgia Dome on Oct. 24, 2015. She returned to campus with her “reputation” tour for two performances Oct. 10 and 11, 2018 at the Dome’s successor, state-of-the-art MBS.

THIS WEEK ON CAMPUS

Meanwhile, it’s another jam-packed week and weekend on the GWCCA’s downtown Atlanta Campus.

The Atlanta-based American College of Rheumatology’s ACR/ARP Annual Meeting continues through Wednesday (Nov. 13) at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), primarily in Buildings A and B. The event, which kicked off Friday (Nov. 8), brings together approximately 16,000 rheumatology professionals and exhibitors from more than 100 countries to showcase and learn about the latest clinical issues, scientific advancements, and professional development.

The International Council of Shopping Center’s (ICSC) Southeast Conference & Deal Making is slated for Thursday (Nov. 14) and Friday (Nov. 15) at the GWCC’s Building A.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s ATLive concerts series debuts with two multi-act country music shows on Friday (Nov. 15) and Sunday (Nov. 17). Friday’s show features Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Sam Hunt, Sugarland, Judah & the Lion and Cale Dodds. Sunday’s lineup is: Eric Church, Luke Combs, Brothers Osborne, and Caylee Hammack. DreamHack Atlanta, the 72-hour non-stop esports and gaming lifestyle festival returns to the GWCC from Friday (Nov. 15) through Sunday (Nov. 17, featuring tournament play, art, music, cosplay, tabletop gaming, arcade gaming, an expo hall and more. This year’s Dreamhack has moved to Building C for the first time. The music lineup includes San Holo, Dion Timmer, Pixel Terror, K Camp, Calboy and Shordie Shordie.

The Georgia Bridal & Wedding Expo returns to the GWCC’s Hall A2 from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 17). Free passes are available by clicking here. Admission at the door is $10.

Metro Atlanta’s top high school and junior dance squads converge for the Battle of the Dance Lines on Sunday (Nov. 17) at the GWCC’s Sidney Marcus Auditorium. The Junior Battle begins at 9 a.m. and the Senior competition begins at 2 p.m. Online tickets are available here.

Over at campus neighbor State Farm Arena, Christian contemporary group Casting Crowns headlines a concert on Thursday (Nov. 14). Show time is at 7 p.m. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
