You are reading an award-winning blog.

No fooling, unConventional, which was launched by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority’s (GWCCA) Marketing and Communications team in March 2018, has won its first industry award.

At tonight’s Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Georgia chapter’s annual Phoenix Awards ceremony at Cobb Energy Centre, the GWCCA, along with its Information Technology partner CCLD, took home an Award of Excellence for unConventional: GWCCA blog bucks business-as-usual in the Blogs category.

Also, the GWCCA won an Award of Excellence for its LinkedIn strategy targeting meeting planners. If you haven’t checked out the Authority’s LinkedIn, you need to, so click here.

The Phoenix Awards are like the Oscars of Georgia’s public relations industry, and tonight’s swanky affair was emceed by 11Alive news anchors Cheryl Preheim and Ron Jones.

“Each year, we help recognize your creativity by including categories that represent the way we work today, such as Social Media, Integrated Campaigns, and Most Effective Influencer Promotion,” Jasmine Hoffman, President of the Georgia Chapter of PRSA, told the crowd. “This year, we are proud to announce that we had a record 239 total entries. The competition was tremendous and fierce – with as little as a couple of points separating the top entries in many categories. The judges – from the Richmond (Virginia) Chapter of PRSA – ultimately named the 125 finalists that we’ll reveal tonight, with 63 Phoenix Awards and 62 Awards of Excellence.”

These two PRSA awards cap off a flurry of industry accolades the GWCCA MarComm team has racked up in 2019.

They include:

  • Award of Excellence from APEX Awards for Publication Excellence for Focal Point: GWCCA Annual Report 2018 in the Annual Reports – Print category.
  • Summit Creative Awards: Bronze Award for Focal Point: Annual Report 2018; Silver Award for the relaunch of www.gwcca.org; and Silver Award for My Authority Life video series in the Employee Communication Video category.
  • 3CMA Savvy Awards for local government, Award of Excellence for Focal Point:  Annual Report 2018 in Printed Publications – Annual Report.
  • Honorable Mention in the Adobe Creativity Government Awards for My Authority Life: GWCCA Brand Ambassadors Tell Their Stories in the Visual Communications – Motion & Video category.
